Goodo

Accessibility

If it is not accessible, it has failed

Goodo is built for people with disability and the people who support them. Accessibility is a release gate: a feature that fails our checks does not ship.

Our commitments

  • We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA across the Goodo app, this website and the staff console.
  • We design and test with people with disability through a paid co-design group.
  • We take our obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 seriously.

What the app is designed to do

  • Mandatory captions on every video, editable by the person posting. Videos do not autoplay with sound.
  • A written audio description field and poster-written alt text for thumbnails.
  • Labels and roles for screen readers, tested with VoiceOver and TalkBack.
  • Text that grows with device text-size settings, strong contrast, and no information given by colour alone.
  • Reduce motion, respecting your device setting and an in-app setting.
  • Plain Australian English, with Easy Read versions of key policies.
  • Event access information: step-free entry, accessible toilet, Auslan, hearing loop, quiet spaces and more.

This website

  • A skip link, one main landmark, and headings in order on every page.
  • Everything works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1, and animations switch off if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • No cookies, no pop-ups and no autoplaying media. Analytics, if switched on, do not use cookies.

Where we are today

Goodo is in development. As of the date of the policy, it has not yet had an independent accessibility audit. We will commission one before public launch and publish a summary. Until then, treat these as our targets and design rules. Known gaps include audio description as text only, imperfect automatic captions, no live captions for events yet, no Auslan versions yet, and English-only content.

Tell us about a problem

If something does not work for you, email accessibility@goodo.com.au. If you cannot complete an identity check or upload a document because of a disability, contact us and we will look for another way to verify you where we can.

Join a community where everyone is verified

Goodo is for people who use the NDIS, the people who care for them, and the providers who support them. It is free for participants and carers.
